With the moon setting behind our backs,
Carolina wrens, cardinals, and bluebirds raising their voices to welcome the day,
An occasional crow calling to us through the chilled spring air,
We walk toward the sunrise.
Watching ghostly mists rising from the Surf Watch pools,
The sky an orange hue,
My husband’s right arm supports my first hesitant step on the uneven sand,
Two dolphins play in the surf,
The sun crests the ocean,
All is well and it’s the Spring Equinox.
